Dome Mount Redesign
Visit Tagbits to see the full range of tagger products described in this blog.
I've been unhappy with my design for mounting acrylic domes to my sensor bases: I designed the domes to be held in place by three #2 self tapping screws that push against the inside of the dome. I've since found that putting acrylic in tension can cause it to crack. Resulting in the destruction of at least one dome as I tightened the mounting screws. To fix this I've redesigned the dome mount to have a ring that fastens around the outside of the dome, keeping it in compression rather than tension. However, to accomplish this I've had to redesign the dome bases to allow this ring to be fastened with screws: Here is the full assembly: And sprayed and mounted with PCB on a gun: Clearly I need to change the position of the clamping ring screw holes for this design. I'm going to roll this design out to the other dome bases available at Tagbits over the next few days.

Finally got around to completing the build of my budget Milestag gun. Here it is:
The integrated sensor can be clearly seen here:

I've almost finished completing my budget Milestag gun build. It has a single 3 way sensor mounted at the front of the gun. I plan to make an add on kit to allow further sensors to be added as required. After fastening all the parts together, I realised I had forgotten the hole where the RJ10 connector is fitted on my standard kits:
To allow me to blank off this hole I designed this part:
Here is is printed and sprayed:
And here it is fitted to the gun body:
When adding external sensors, this blanking plug will simply be replaced with a RJ10 connector as fitted to my stanbdard gun body designs.

Budget Milestag Gun Kit
I've been mad busy at work and not had time to continue with my build of my budget Milestag gun kit.
This is meant to be a single gun body with an integral infra red sensor:
However I found a bit of time to continue the build this evening. Here is a view of the Sparkfun LED Display and 50MM speaker mounts:
This shows the other side of the gun body with the battery compartment and keyswitch:
